Can using an Interdental brush, cause gaps between teeth?

I was wondering if using these interdental brushes (the ones with bristles on a wire) instead of flossing can cause gaps in between your teeth. Here is what they look like:

They shouldn't cause gaps between your teeth, but they shouldn't be used if there isn't enough space for them to fit easily between the teeth - like if there are already gaps there. If you have to force the brush through, then it is too tight and will damage the gum tissues - just floss instead. Those brushes are meant for people with larger spaces between their teeth and/or cleaning around braces.
